Let me start this article by stating the obvious and answering your question straight away. How much do wedding photographers charge? My answer is that you get what you pay for.
There are many different types of wedding photographers, some of them starting out and inexperienced and others who are professionals with many years in the industry and the equipment to boot.
What does photography mean to you?
When I get a question like, ‘Why do your services cost that much when we can take the pictures on our IPhone and add a filter?’ I know I am dealing with someone who does not understand the art of photography nor appreciates a good photograph. You see photography is about much more than just framing an object or person and if you know what goes into making a good photo you will understand the price variations.
Here is what you can expect to pay for wedding photographers
Entry Level
You may easily find a budding photographer, trying to gain experience who will do your shoot for free. These photographers may not have the necessary experience but if they are photography students then I would give them a chance. They may surprise you.
Middle of the range
These are the photographers who have studied photography and who have experience, they have professional equipment and are good with post production edits of photographs. Wedding photographers need to be good at taking photographs and editing them afterwards as even the greatest photographers cannot control all the elements, sometimes all a photograph needs is a little tweaking.
Top of the range
Right, if you are reading this section then you must know the value of a good photographer or have the money to pay for one. So what can you expect from a photographer who is charging what seems to be an arm and a leg? Well, quite frankly you should be expecting a lot. Signature photographers are those who have developed a unique style of photography and are in demand. You should expect that each one of your photographs to look as unique and breath-taking as the next.
