Sean and Leanne have been friends, and camera-crazy, since childhood, but their story officially began when they were University students. Sean was studying Audio Visual Production Management at the University of Johannesburg. Leanne was completing her BA Fine Arts degree, with Honours, at the University of the Witwatersrand. One holiday, while Sean was getting involved in commercial film projects for various corporate companies, Leanne landed her first photographic job with Father Christmas in a shopping mall. It was love at first click which meant many more freelance projects and apprenticeships.
In 2005 Leanne launched her small wedding- and portrait-photography business, ‘Focus Photography by Leanne Russell’. At that stage, Sean was still involved in freelance projects for production companies in the broadcast and events industries.
In 2009 Sean and Leanne tied the knot both personally and professionally and changed the company name to ‘Focus Photo Video’ to incorporate Sean’s video department.
In 2012 they decided to launch a fresh image and name to better represent their whimsical, striking style: Snapdragon Pictures.
They’re now a passionate and successful husband and wife team, specializing in, but not limited to wedding- and lifestyle-photography and -film. Both are fully qualified, highly experienced and absolutely love their work – because this is all they’ve ever done.
