Great Danes, Great Love

Shannon McKay is the owner of McKaynine.  We met her many years ago when we wanted to spend more quality time with and have more control over our Siberian Huskies.  She and her team have been hugely helpful, and have made training really fun.  Shannon also breeds beautiful, goofy Grate Danes.  We did this Pawtrait Shoot at McKaynine Honeydew, Shannon’s home with two of her special girls.  Smooch and Joanie were the canine models.  They were so excited and… Continue reading

Corporate Traveller Client Event

This is a favourite annual event we look forward to.  The first one we covered was Corporate Traveller at Playing for Pink, which I thought would be extremely difficult to top, but each year they manage to hold another beautiful event to show their clients their appreciation.  This year was at Laghams in Fourways.  Delicious food, amazing lucky draw prizes, beautiful setting, lovely live music, and of course, an open bar!  Photography by Leanne Russell Williams.

Sam’s Specials at Sunset

Sam Walpole, as in THE Sam Walpole from Be The Dog has been on my own doggy journey from the start.  I met her at my first ever agility class at McKaynine many years ago.  I’ve also had the privelage of a few behaviour consults with Sam to help sort out my own hooligan Siberians.  Sam wanted some photos of her pack for both professional and sentimental use.  I think Allegro is the funniest, cutest little Italian Greyhound EVER!  He… Continue reading

Five AM Family Fun

Two weird things happened on this shoot.  The first is that my very old friend from primary school, Rela, was awake and beautified at 5 am!  The second is that Keegan, who I first met when he was about 10 years old, is now taller than his dad.  We met at the family home way too early, downed a quick but delicious cup of caffeine, and then headed into the family’s neighborhood to take advantage of the soft, flattering morning… Continue reading

The Staessens Clean Up with Coastal Ghost

The Staessens shoots are always mini adventures.  But this year’s resulted in the weirdest, most out-of-character client brief I have ever given.  It read something like: “Dear Staessen Family, Let’s meet at a dirty, busy, public park, mid-afternoon while the sun is still high (and the light is harsh), at the end of winter (while it is still dry and cold).   Dress in very old clothing and shoes and bring rubber gloves and old buckets.”  In true Staessen style, they… Continue reading

Cutie Kai

Remember Shenaaz and Stephen’s Maternity Photos?  This little cutie named Kai was an absolute pleasure to shoot.  He was soooo relaxed and happy and sleepy.  We scheduled went to his home and moved some furniture around to take advantage of some soft window light.  We used beautiful old cameras from the family home, as well as some Disney soft toys from Kai’s aunty Jen (you might remember her phenomenal wedding).  Megan Calitz assisted… Continue reading
