Armed with these three things and a healthy dose of passion anyone can become a good or better photographer. 1. Get a good camera

You need a good camera in order to take good photographs. A camera is your equipment and in order to get the best results you need to have good equipment. If you are just starting out with photography I would suggest that you purchase an SLR (single lens reflect) camera. Starting with a digital camera allows you to easily see where you have gone wrong immediately and allows you to edit the photograph afterwards.

2. Enrol in a course

Attend a beginners or an intermediate course as this will allow you to gain the technical knowledge that you need in order to become a good photographer. Even the most senior or best photographer is as good as they are because they continue to study. Attend a course but also read books on photography, the more you study the more you learn and the better you will become. Also spend time studying professional photographers photos to see their techniques and the way they compose their images.

3. Practice, practice, practice

In order to become a good, or even great, photographer you need to practice, practice, practice. The more you practice the more confident you will become in your ability to photograph. Once you gain the knowledge it is only by practising that which you have learnt that will make you a good photographer.

4. Shoot in different conditions

It is very important for a photographer to become accustomed to shooting in different weather conditions and different lighting situations. Most photographers, at least in the beginning, aim to shoot in flat light but when out on an actual shoot the weather conditions vary and to become a good photographer you need to be accustomed to shooting in all weather conditions and understand how the light changes the picture.
