Careful planning goes into your wedding and just as much planning should go into hiring a wedding photographer and communicating what it is that you want on your day. A wedding photographer has a certain amount of responsibility in making sure your photographs come out the way you want, all the other bits belong to you.

Scout

There are hundreds of photographers out there and picking the right one for you basically comes down to finding a photographer who is able to take the idea of the dream wedding you have in your head and turn it into a reality. In order to find a photographer who understands your ideas you need to find one whose style you like. For this reason you want to scout the internet and photographers’ websites to see the work they have done before and their style.

Explain

Once you have found a wedding photographer whose style you like you should explain to them exactly what you are looking for, using their work as examples as well as bringing in some other works of other photographs that you like. Explain your concept in detail and listen to advice from the wedding photographer as they will better be able to guide you as to what will work and what will not.

Be natural

When your big day arrives you should relax! You now need to trust that the photographer will deliver the look that you were hoping for, you should not be micro-managing the photographer and neither should your in laws. Though you will be nervous and filled with various emotions you must remember to smile and be as natural as possible. Forget the camera is there and just have fun. Be natural and it will show on your photographs.
