A videographer is a person who films and edits video footage for different projects like television shows, weddings, documentaries, speeches, court cases and even important interviews. Some tasks which are associated with videography will be described in this article.
A videographer should always have a brief consultation with their clients. This will allow a videographer to discuss the specifics of a project such as the date, time, location, payment and any other details the videographer may need to know. The consult is very important because it helps a videographer have a better understanding of the project and to be aware of the client’s specifications and expectations.
Video cameras, microphones and other audio equipment will be needed to successfully record footage. Once a videographer has obtained all the equipment they will need for a project, they will need to make sure that everything works correctly. It will be the responsibility of the videographer to set-up all this equipment before their client arrives.
The most difficult part of being a videographer is to film footage using all of their equipment to produce quality footage. A videographer needs to remember different aspects of videography in order to provide their clients with good quality footage. The following is a list with brief descriptions of things videographers need to know to be able to produce excellent quality footage.
• It is important for a videographer to keep the camera steady and shouldn’t constantly zoom in or out and pan right to left because the footage will require less editing.
• It is important for a videographer to film different angles so that they will have several options to work with when editing the footage. These angles should include the widest possible angle, a close-up and even a few medium shots.
• A videographer needs to make sure that the background of an interview or speech supports the topic being discussed.
• It is important for a videographer to ensure that a subject is well lit but should also ensure that a subject isn’t over-lit by the sun or bright background.
• A videographer should not zoom in and out very often as it will create a shakier image. Also zooming in and out causes the images to lose quality.
• A videographer should always have plenty of charged batteries and extra blank tapes.
After all the filming has been done a videographer will need to work through the footage and edit out any unusable footage. After the necessary edits have been made a videographer can then go on to copying the footage onto a memory device, giving it to their client and then receive their payment.
