Avasha’s 40th

Avasha and her family are literally our first and oldest clients.  You can see one of their previous shoots here.  I so enjoy her functions…her family and friends are incredibly warm, kind and loving.   This bash was to celebrate Avasha’s 40th birthday as well as her and Deep’s 17th wedding anniversary.  Al Fresco’s private function room was the perfect cozy spot for this family gathering.  The guests enjoyed live music and a… Continue reading

Marriage Meander – The June Journey

The Marriage Meander Journeys are such a clever idea.  They’re for brides who want to milk every ounce of fun out of their wedding-planning-experience while meeting trusted wedding suppliers, exploring amazing wedding venues and taste-testing the food.  Last Sunday, 16 such brides and their friends, retinues, families and/or fiances met at the exquisite Memoire, where they were served a delicious breakfast, treated to a sporadic dance lesson, treated to a candy buffet, and shown around the venue… Continue reading

Bhavna and Rosheel’s Geet

Immediately following Bhavna’s Sathak, Rosheel’s family joined Bhavna’s for a huge pre-wedding celebration.  They danced and danced and danced, and we still can’t believe that their families managed to fill up that massive hall.  We also took a moment to sneak away for a quick night shoot using our off camera flash.  By Leanne Williams and Dee-Ann Kaaijk, assisted by Dominique Harding

Bhavna’s Sathak in Lenasia

Bhavna’s Sathak was an extravagant affair, held at Ramakrishna Hall in Kingfisher Street, Lenasia.  Lots of joyful tears from Bhavna’s mom and dad…..lots of tears from the smokey fire too!  Colourful stage lighting made it so easy for me to capture many lovely family moments.   It was also really lovely catching up with Bhavna’s cousin, Shobha, who was our very very first Indian Bride many years ago.  By Leanne Williams.

Bhavna’s Mehndi Night

Bhavna’s Henna Party was held at her family home in Lenasia a few days before her wedding.  I love this Indian Pre-Wedding tradition because it gives me a chance to get to know the ladies, and allows them some time to get comfortable with the cameras before the wedding.  It’s also such a nice way for the ladies to unwind and feel pampered amoung all the stress of planning the wedding.  We also did a night shoot… Continue reading

Bhavna’s Pithi Ceremony

Bhavna’s friends and family painted her with turmeric paste and showered her with gifts and sweeties in preparation for her marriage to Rosheel later this week.  This is the first time I’ve been commissioned to cover such an event, and what a visual feast!  Bhavna complained that the paste was burning her skin and eyes, but that it would hopefully make her skin more beautiful for the wedding.  By Leanne Williams.
