Posing for family photos can be a really dull exercise. You get everyone together, if at all possible, and sit with sombre faces staring at a camera. Right? If this sounds familiar you hate this almost as much as the next family. But it doesn’t have to be dull.
Nowadays people don’t have to dress up in their Sunday best to be photographed. In fact it is the last thing anyone wants to do. And keeping the kids and their clothes clean until you get to the studio, a nightmare!
The fun solution is not difficult at all. Nor does it require the skills of a logistics expert, or drill sergeant to get everyone together. People are simply too busy to get a date that will suit everyone. So plan B it is.
Chat to the studio and have everyone’s photograph taken individually. Now you might wonder what that would accomplish. With the graphic editing software available today, is it as simple as clicking a mouse. To make it easy for the graphic editor, choose the same background for the family photos to be taken against. In a studio these backgrounds are neutral and makes the editing simple.
Arrange times that suit everyone, and they would be happier for it too. Sit and smile, or jump and hoot, let everyone’s personality shine through. Family photos have to be fun or why bother?
Take the boring out of the end result, and have the editor choose a tree structure. That way everyone will be part of the photograph and you have a family tree at the same time. Maybe some of your family members are no longer living, but you want them in the tree too. Use older photographs and scan them to be added to the tree.
Such a family tree could make a great gift for someone to hang in their living room. When the family expands, you can have the original edited and baby added. As everyone grows up and older, add fresh family photos and update the tree.
It could become a tradition, a record and an heirloom at the same time.
