During one Sunday afternoon visit with the fandamily, Sean and I treated Sean’s parents to a very quick family portrait shoot with their four spirited Labradors. Our Siberians were horrified that they, for once, were not the center of attention, and they occasionally voiced this opinion loudly and photobombed our background. The Labs of course where really good little posers, though extremely slobbery. As with all of my personal photographs, I’ve neglected the editing until nearly 2 years later, so sadly Bonnie the yellow lab is no longer with us. It’s strange not having her around. She’s been here for as long as I’ve known Sean, and I often forget that she’s not here anymore. Bonnie was the first trained dog I ever met. She was a famous therapy dog, and an absolute rock star. I was constantly amazed when I watched Jenny working Bonnie, and I remember thinking that training a dog was some kind of magical process that required supernatural powers. Bonnie and her late brother Tyler were the dogs who first inspired me to learn about dog-training and behaviorism, which ultimately led to the arrival of our two Sibes and my obsession with all things dog. To say that Bonnie is missed is an understatement. I hope that these photos will help everyone who loved her to remember her clearly forever.
